Important Updates
UnitedHealthcare StudentResources announced today that UHCSR will cover the administration of the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine for our members.
The H1N1 vaccine itself will be covered by the government. The H1N1 vaccine is targeted to be available mid-October. The CDC has identified the prioritization order for receipt of the vaccine and each state will develop plans for how they will distribute the vaccine for administration.
Although the serum will be covered by the government, there may be associated charges for administration of the vaccine. UnitedHealthcare StudentResources has made the decision to cover the administration costs for all of our members.
Are any UnitedHealthcare StudentResources policies excluded?
UnitedHealthcare StudentResources will reimburse the administration cost of the vaccination under all policies except for the following:
- K12 Accident Only Policies
- College Accident Only Policies
- Sport Policies
- Stand Alone/Repatriation/Med Evacuation Policies
- Special Event Policies
Will Student Health Centers be reimbursed?
Yes, current Student Health Centers that are billing us will be covered at 100% for all covered students. In order for reimbursement we are requesting they submit the H1N1 administration fees to Ledger Billing separately from all other charges, so they can be processed as a separate batch.
Will out of network providers be reimbursed?
Only UnitedHealthcare Network Providers will be reimbursed for the administrative cost.
My school has an indemnity plan or NON-UHC PPO plan. Will my the member still be covered?
Yes, however the member must utilize a UHC Network provider. We will only provide reimbursement to UHC participating providers. The insured member may call 800-767-0700 to find a network provider in their area.
UnitedHealthcare StudentResources will continue to follow the CDC's guidance on this evolving situation. For more information from the CDC on vaccines and immunizations call 800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636) or e-mail: cdcinfo@cdc.gov.
